the fading light of day was lingering on their sleeping face and that your lover's lullaby had lately lost its tender grace?

no, but I begged him to come and lay his sleeping head upon my tender arm
where I could shield him from all hurt, and pain, and harm.
And I wished that not a moment of this time be lost,
although i knew that in the end, much would be demanded for the cost.
