They are both great game series, but completely different genres, so it would be unfair to compare them. But if I had to pick, I'd pick Final Fantasy because I am a RPG fan.

They are two totally different games. The RPG generation is going to like FF better because they are used to the confusion of power-upping for the duration of a game while understanding strange terminology and enjoy the fantasy themes of majic.
Metal Gear is a game about stealth. I rarely play RPG's because I find it all a little confusing and a little far fetched. I think being able to sneak around and taking out targets is way more realistic and fun than shooting magic flaming spells with the help of some mythical creature. Seriously, what skill does it take to beat FF? In order to beat the game, you just have to understand the terminology and wade through extreanous amounts of time in order to lvl up.
So for your debate...realism is more fun for the people who are not fantasy fans. For me, it's Metal Gear all the way.

Thats a really tough on but to tell you the truth it matters wich one of the series like FFX (Final Fantasy X or 10 for u people who dont know) is better than Metal Gear 1 But Metal Gear 3 is better than FFX

ugh.. how can u compare two entirely different games.
final fantasy is a great turn based strategy/rpg game and the metal gear series is an action/rpg game. both have their own style. not a very debatable topic =P
