That depends in part on the insult and the crowd.
One insult may be a deal breaker and the apology may be insincere or ineffectual.
I would be willing to overlook most slights but some words can cut you to the quick.
On the other hand, if the person is special then who knows.
I think I look around and if I see nothing open I stay a bit more. It may get better.

I stick it out! Yeah, I know it's pitiful. I'm an introvert, so I can't stand large crowds. I usually stick with 2-3 close friends, and in a new crowd in the scenario that you described, I would be so exhausted at the end of the 24 hours, I bet I would sleep for 12 hours straight! Now if this person insulted me again, well, I would probably commit introverted suicide and go talk to everyone. My mistrust would not be toward the crowd but toward myself, messing up again.

Yay, a convention. I love conventions. I'd meet all the new people I could. "Clicking" with as many people possible, but eventually forming a core group.

already did that.. and no i didn't click well and i was glad it was over.
i also didn't like the fact we had to present ourselves and convince others that what we had to offer was worthy of their support.
