Hi all - here's my problem:
I'm very skinny on top (to the point of having a bony chest and prominent collarbones, small arms, very small waist), with medium-ish hips, giant butt, and thunder thighs. I've read tips on dressing for a pear shape, but most of them seem to emphasize showing off the top half of your body.

1. I have relatively small breasts. I try to emphasize the top half of my body with interesting necklines, etc., but the bony chest kind of sucks. Tips on how to deal with this?
2. How on earth do I shop for jeans? Jeans that fit me in the thigh are too loose at my hips (I don't want to moon people), or vice versa. Advice?
3. I'm looking to spice up my look. Picture 5'5" girl with the above body type. I tend to stick to jeans and tees...I love the newer trends with long tops and tight jeans, but I don't know how to pull it off without looking like a sausage.

I'd like to hear anything you can throw at me. Thank you in advance. :)

You are in good company - a very large amount of 'pears' live in the US! [ including me, my mom, and two of three sisters. ]
Pears have a smaller bust, shoulders, and waist; with larger hips, bottom, and thighs.
1] tops: Vneck, scoopneck, boatneck [ not too deep if bony chest ]; tops that end at between hipbone and wrist; details - ruffles, beading, colors; empire waists.
Avoid: tops that hit at waist, highlighting entire bottom half.
2] pants/jeans: slightly low rise, flatfront, boot cut pants. Buy to fit in the hips - tailor can take in waist.
Avoid: gathered, drawstringed, pleated, cuffed, or tapered.
3] skirts: knee length Alines are best, flared hem works.
Avoid: clingy, superfull, pleats.
4] dresses: flowy, empire waists, Aline skirt, wide set straps, sheaths, wide collars, knee length.
Avoid: clingy, or overfull skirts.
5] swimsuits: focus on top with ruffles, shirring, patterns; wide set straps, dark bottoms with slightly high cut legs.
Avoid: boy legs, or super high cut legs.
TIPS: wear body skimming tops or layers, with fitted bottoms in a dark color.
Wear heels, peep toes, or pointy toes [ legs appear longer, therefore - slimmer.]
Always have great hair and pretty earrings to look at!

Either a dress in a stretchy material, or one with regulating straps for the bust? Like a halter-neck, or something? Or you could tailor, of course.. I know how you feel, I have the same problem. Now I sew my own dresses. Anyway, you could also try a loose fitting one, and tie a belt around your waist. It's a super-flattering silhouette, and you can change up the style by changing the belt. Good luck!

I would look up celebrities that have your body type and see what they are wearing because they have people that dress them accordingly. I was going to say look up Kim Kardashian but she has a large top as well. Sorry i couldnt help more. I have the opposite problem, im 5'1 average everywhere else but a D cup, and an XS or 0 dress does NOT accomodate for boobs of any type :(
