I've calculated out that I pay about 65% of my income to some sort of tax. YIKES!

#2 is interesting. When you mention taxes, everybvody seems to think of the IRS and the fedeal income tax.
But what we pay for federal income tax is petty cash when you compare it with whay we pay in
1. Social security tax
2. State income tax
3. local or county income tax
4. State sales tax.
5. City income tax ( in some areas)
6.Real estate tax
7. taxes on gasoline
8. "franchise: tax on TV cable and long distance phone
9, County property tax
10. City property tax
11. School tax
12. Sewer tax *( comes with your water bill)
If you own your house, you pay 9-10-11-12 directly, if you rent, these are figured in your rent)
-So, don't just make the IRS the bad guy.
Granted, it is a big one, but all these others add up into some serious money.
At least with theFed income tax,. you have no earnings, you pay no Fed tax, but with the others ( except 2-3-4, you're screwed.)

which is why we either need the flat tax or the fair tax. Do away with the KGB...oops I mean the IRS
