I was just reading an article from howstuffworks about parallel worlds and it seems very plausible but you don't hear a lot about the theory

There's a lot of support for it. There's been some recent evidence in favour from experiments in quantum physics, and of course it gives an explanation of why the physical constants in this universe are just right for us to exist; there's a large or infinite number of worlds in which constants like the gravitational constant and the charge on an electron are different, but the only ones where people like you and me talk about physics are the few or possibly the only one where intelligent life can evolve. Another version of parallel worlds has it that they've all got the same physical laws but another one springs into being when a wave function collapses, and in the universes we're not in, the particle is in a different state. Yet another version says that if you create a mini black hole with a particle accelerator just a little bit more powerful than the largest yet built, it explodes into a new universe. If this last theory is true, we'd better not carry out this experiment. This universe is a lousy place. Imagine being responsible for creating Auschwitz, Iraq and all the rest.

From what I read and understand, parallel worlds and universes are just mathmatical probabililties. For example, let's take a look at odd numbers between 1 through 10. They're 1, 3,5,7,9. It's like our universe is 5. There could be other universes as math does allow for them,1,3,7, and 9. But they don't have to exist and that will be fine just as well.
It's a mathmatical theory and we don't have the technology to test the theory. So we can't do much about it.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence for any parallel worlds.

There is a Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics. But this theory gives exactly the same results as standard quantum mechanics. So it offers no way to test the existence of parallel universes.

M theory states there's 11 possible dimensions and we reside on the 4th (3rd Dimension times(X) Time =4th)...they think that electromagnetic energy (which is still not completely understood) may be of our dimension or an infereior dimension and that gravity is a force shared in higher dimensions...it states the universe couldve been created when matter from one dimension spilled over into another...and we still haven't seen the edge of the universe...depending on the shape of the universe: einstein said 2 parrallel lines would eventually meet or split apart.

i seriously doubt you will get someone that knows what there talking about on the reply. thats i pretty specific field of study in physics.
there was inthe news the last week or 2 about some mathmatitions that think they can prove a parallel universe thru some equation. do a web search

I don't know, but the scientific community, as I have come to know it, has a very closed mindset.
