Most places in the Philippines are as safe as any other country. If you use common sense and a little caution you should not be in any danger.
Terrorists want to demonstrate the government inability to protect her citizens. They want to create shock and panic.
They would pick large public targets in major metropolitan areas. They will increase their attacks during holidays and fiestas. Knowing these facts, you now know how to avoid being in a potential targets zone. There is no country that is "safe'.....but you can avoid being a victim by using a little common sense.
Enjoy the holidays......

The recent bombing in Glorietta at the Ayala Center in Makati will surely scare people from going to the Philippines but I guess most of the other malls or tourist spots are still safe. My husband and I went to Trinoma (a new mall in Quezon City)... it was far better than Glorietta and there are lots of people malling around. Investigation shows it can probably be an accident more than a terrorist bombing.

The explosion at Glorietta 2 was an isolated case and word has it that it wasn't the handiwork of a terrorist but an accident that occurred in the basement of the building where they stock gas and other combustible materials. I should say that the country remains very safe for travelers to come and visit. Just remember though that like in all countries of the world, there are places that are not safe to venture into. Keep on the safe side.

People around the world thought the World Trade Center was a very safe place to visit. And that the Pentagon was the most secure place on earth. Or did you not read about the thief who made it as far as the queen's private chamber in Buckingham?
There is no more place anywhere that is considered safe. But you have a head above your shoulder, and you can discern, decide, or work on gut feel. Of course common sense tells you you shouldn't go to war zone. Makati is not a war zone. Only our politicians are always at war, but you won't die with the tons of saliva they expel when they debate endlessly.

there are places that are still safe. avoid the malls, and places in the remote areas, mindanao, and some parts in visayas. North philippines is safe, i guess. Baguio City, Zambales with beaches, too. but be sure to stay at home in the evening.
