As far as clothing, you should check out any vintage or consignment stores in your area. You will find a lot of beautiful pieces from different eras, perfect if you want to stand out as a glamorous, unique person. It does take patience and research to find a good vintage shop, but trust me, you wont regret it!
Careful with the tanning, you don't want to look orange! Get a light tan, and before the event, use bronzer to highlight cheekbones, shoulders or what ever skin you are showing. It will look more dazzling and you will glow, plus it will look more natural.

treat the other contestants like human beings and try not to make it a b****h fest.
Keep the wardrobe simple - as simple as possible. You don't need extra frills.
Natural makeup makes your face the most important part of your body. Keep your skin in its best condition by eating healthy fruits and vegetables. Don't starve yourself, eat your salads and fruits. Keep up your exercise and your health and you will shine brighter than those who starve themselves to be thin.

Don't get way tan, that looks real bad if your hair is blonde. Get a pretty mani and pedi though. Good luck! I hope you win!
