It is my understanding that Islam (like most religions) believes that their way is the right way, but that it is also basically a peaceful religion. It teaches very conservative views about family and how to conduct oneself. The image that is most being shown in the media lately is one of extremist and not a true representation of what Islam teaches. I know Muslims do not eat pork and I have a rough understanding of the practices of Ramadan. I don't really have an opinion about Islam but I believe that many Muslims are being treated with anger and fear based on what a minor fraction of extremists are doing. It is not fair to treat everyone with a blanket opinion based on this fractional group but sadly that is how many people act. The sources of my information are some of what I have researched on-line, in books and from asking the chaplains (of several religions) that I deal with at work.

During this present war, Islam appears to be fighting on both sides; the al-Wahab is, from current intelligence, the root instigator of several recent attacks from the Philippines to Iraq. A reactionary element within Islam based out of Meqah, Saudi Arabia, the al-Wahab is an imperialist school that bases its politics on Muhammad's war experiences of the 8th Century A.D.
During the time period covered in the first forty or so Surot of the Qu'ran, Muhammad, then headquartered at Madinah, held his own against the Byzantines and vanquished several of the Arab enemies that forced him from Meqah at the start of the period. I was therefore not surprised at the inflammatory language in these Surot, where he (a) ordered his followers to "fight and slay the Pagans wheresoever ye find them" (using whatever tactics are necessary for this task, 9:5), and (b) advised them, on account of the Byzantines, to "consider neither Christian nor Jew for a friend or protector" (5:51).
I am not surprised, therefore, at the Rev. John Hagee's "use extreme caution" approach to Islam in general, and the al-Wahab and its adherents in particular.

I dont think any differently of it than I do Christianity (for the record, I dont belong to any religion) - its just something that people do - a way to identify themselves. I see religion as one of those things like culture that identify a person.
I dont have a good or bad opinion of Islam, but like every religion, there are good and bad examples of the faith.
I go to school and work in the one city that has the highest population of people from the Middle East, outside of the Middle East - so I get a lot of personal exposure to it.
Be well - peace

They are closed minded. Don t accept other ideas or words than they have learned. Not tolerant with other religions.
Islam must have taken most of christianity and judaism since the prophet knew a lot about these religion. Islam has many rules that are imposed with no questioning allowed.
I am just learninng about it. So I couldn t give a better answer for now. I am interested in the history of middle east and make my investigations in internet , different sources, from diferent religions.

Wa Alaikum Salam Wu RahmatAllahi Wu Barakathou amin, ship the money proper to the children and inform every person to head residence. I did so much of those matters and so they became out to be a jump again for me, and a few smiles that used to be approximately it. The identical 10 humans ran round like idiots seeking to make it paintings for the sake and delight of Allah SWT, and the two or three visitors bought all of the credit score. May Allah advisor it, however I am out on the subject of those matters, I supply the money straight to the wanted. That is the one approach for me. These fund raisers we did for Palestine within the hundreds of thousands and not one of the cash bought to the humans. AstugfarAllah might Allah SWT burn that cash now, within the fingers of folks who greedily took it.!

Anna,
As with any other religion there are good and bad aspects. The Muslims as a whole have gotten a bad rap for what the Jihad extremist did and are doing.

I know nothing of their religion, except from what I hear on the news. It seems to all be bad things.
