Should my knee still be really painful and swollen still? and now it looks like my foot is starting to swell and it sort of feels like my knee is pinching inside... I have also noticed that my foot has to be turned outward otherwise if it is pointing straight like normal it feels like my leg is twisted and something is going to break. sometimes my knee doesnt hurt but then a few minutes later it hurts like crazy. What should I do is this normal or bad?

You should consult with a physician to see if anything is definitely not normal. Knee injuries are very common, and though it takes a moderate amount of force to actually break a bone, you still should go get an exam done. In the mean time try RICE. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. While you aren't working or not doing much, relax and take a load off so your knee can take a break. Put some ice on the affected area to help alleviate some of the pain and to help the healing process. Get an ACE wrap or neoprene knee sleeve to reduce swelling. And whenever at home, elevate your knee to help with the swelling and the pain. Still go see a doctor though to see if you've done any damage.

I have had many similar injuries from my tae kwon do training. It doesn't sound like a broken bone, but it could definitely be twisted. Take a painkiller for now, but you should really get it x-rayed...It helps me to ice injuries for 15-20 min, then take a hot shower or use a heating pad. If it is sprained, use the RICE method: R=rest, I=Ice, C=compression, E=elevation

This mechanism of injury is classic for fracturing the kneecap. Treatment depends on the type of fracture - some are allowed to heal with just immobilization and some require surgery.

The first step, of course, is to find out if it IS fractured or if there is another injury. Time to see a doctor, painful as the experience may be.

an injury like that can hurt for weeks, especially if you twisted or tore something. go to the ER and have it checked. an injury to your knees can be very dibilitating and some injury can stay hidden for a long time, this could cause you serious trouble down the road sometime

My mum did the exact same thing, turned out she broke her knee cap, which they did nothing for. She just wore a bandage and tried to sta ff it as much as possible.

But you really should get checked out by a doctor to make sure you're not more seriously.

You really should get the knee x-rayed to be sure you didn't chip your kneecap. If you don't get it looked after in about 30 years you will be getting a knee replacement.

OUCH! If you are having all of the problems that you say you are, you need to go see an orthopedic doctor. It sounds like you have some serious damage and need to have it looked at.
