I think that Islamic culture and religion is under attack because of the ongoing war in the middle east. I'm personally sick of the discrimination towards these kind, loving and highly talented individuals. The Islamic religion is very similar to Christianity. Islam means submission, as in surrendering ones self to God.Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, God's final prophet, and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam. They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Judaism and Christianity distorted the messages of these prophets over time either in interpretation, in text, or both. These are loving caring people. Terrorist are radicals of this faith.

I think I don't know it well enough to have a formed opinion. I've read a few verses from the Kuran when I was younger and agreed with some of what it said but disagreed on others. I think people overgeneralise when they say Islam propagates terrorism. I think it's confused people who promote terrorism. Islam teaches their followers that Christians and Jewish and all kuffar must be destroyed, though, but then again Christianity is no example either. They all want to destroy the one another. That's the problem with those kind of religious systems. I don't know whether the Kuran or the Bible are actually true, who wrote them or with what purpose. I think people who are extremist are not necessarily related to Islam, Bush claims to be a Christian and he's a fu----- terrorist SOB.
It's people who decide how orthodoxly interpret a text. I think there are many good-hearted, sensible tolerant Muslims as well as Christians and there are intolerant people too.
If you're asking my opinion then I'd say I wouldn't follow Islam since I consider it to be a very strict religion and it doesn't go with my beliefs and values but neither does Christianity.

Islamic Americans or foreigners?
The news is where I get most info. The news makes it seem like all Muslims hate Americans and their values. And that Islam is a violent group of people. I only know of black Muslims in nearby neighborhoods. I've seen them selling sweet potato pies and passing out literature at an intersection. I definitely think it is racially motivated, meaning the misconception between American's and Muslims because we don't understand and are afraid. Muslims have a bad reputation and need to show they are not hateful if they really stand for peace.

Islam is a belief system that has been around much longer than Catholicism and Christianity, and some of its beliefs have been integrated into those religions. It has "worked" for so long because the leaders of that religion have maintained a sense of ignorance in its disciples, especially the female population.
I think it has a number of very interesting points of view about human behaviour, yet is now outdated and causes unneeded segregation outside and inside its dominion.
I have studied many religions of the world, from various sources (library, internet, magazines and conversations with the faithful), but just by looking at a country's history where religion has played a major role in disciplining its inhabitants, like England, America, Italy, etc. is enough to make a sensible opinion about the different faiths.
All religions are good so long as some power-hungry male doesn't contort its doctrines for their own personal gains.

I'm not sure what the difference between a Islam Muslim and a Muslim from another country, but I've two really good friends who are Muslims, so I think that individual extremists have given the whole religion a biased viewpoint.

I believe they need a break. It's not every 1's fault in their race jus because some stupid terrorist did what they did. I dont even act differently when I'm around a Muslim. It's NOT that big of a deal! I know how they feel because I get a lot of people giving me the cold shoulder as if I'm inferior to them just because Im black and I happen to like what I like and be very opinionated about it! I remember watching the Tyra show when they had a Muslim woman and Saaphyri (from the Flavor of Love & Charm School shows on vh1) on the show talking about what the Muslim woman goes through. Saaphyri got to be in the Muslim womans shoes and hang out with her for a day, only to find out that she and the woman had similar likes and dislikes. It was a good look @ life and people. I believe it is true that "You dont feel what someone feels until u walk a mile in their mocassins."

Islam is actually a peacful religion. And unfortunately for them there is a few radiacals out there making it hard for them. Those few evil people are shining a bad light on the rest of the. I am a nurse and have worked with several doctors that were islamic and ITs not the religion for me, but if studied right its peaceful. I just wish the extremist would call them something else, and I wish Us american would stop lumping everyone into one just big pile. THose who did those HORRIBLE things on sept 11th, were not peaceful people, and I can not to this day understand them. But I try not to let it rule my life when I am judging individuals who happen to be Islamic.
Most of my information about Islam is actually from doctors I worked with, and Information they gave me. I also have studied ISLAM in college (more of a general study) And then of course Ihave learned some about it by watching the history channel and the news.

People can believe in whatever they want as long as they don't start giving me crap about being a non-believer and that I must repent or join or whatever.
I don't even believe the crap I hear on TV or from other people about muslims being extremists because you're only seeing the portrayal of a smaller group instead of the whole population of them. It's ignorant to assume that just because some people act a certain way that all of them are like that.

Islam is a religion... Some people who follow it are great, some people who follow it are idiots. Some people do great things in the name of Islam, some do horrible things... Just like Christianity and basically any other religion. Some people have a habit of interpreting it the wrong way and twist it to justify their actions and clear their conscience.
