Surprising? No....they've been locked and loaded since August and have been reloading since the last trade deadline.

I am not going to give you any reasons why they are not amazing to this point, but we have not reached to 1/10th mile marker just yet either. I hope they continue this through the playoffs, I am a Flyers fan, but it's still a long road in front of them. I would like to know how many people out there believe that the Flyers are not for real though.
The stars have been aligned for them to this point. A team coming off the amount of changes they went through was blessed to have a long road trip to the other side of the continent to open the season. I am not saying that the who "team building" exercises they went through out west will win them the cup, but it certainly helped to speed up the whole getting used to each other.
One thing that hasn't been amazing: Being out shot by a 4-1 or 5-1 margin in the first period of several games. Biron has been the difference to this point but Roy, Hasek, Parent, Dryden and Brodeur couldn't keep that up for an entire season. They must correct that issue. As the season continues, it will be more and more difficult to recover from those situations especially when Biron ends his hot streak.

Any team that is involved with Bobby (can you imagine calling someone in his 50's Bobby) Clarke will prove to be a disaster.
Yeah, some early season success, however, the Broad Street Bullies are going to dive before the year is over,
Clarke was a good player but his management history has proven to be a disaster. If he had anything less than that massive ego of his he would walk away from the game and know that the Flyers were better because of it.

How can you say that they weren't amazing if they were the worst in the league and now they are 6-1 beating NJ and Carolina in their last 2 games, cloud?
Biron and the acquisitions were great, but their young players are also coming into their own. Carter, Richards and even Randy Jones are playing great. They have a legit 3 years with a physical, oppurtunistic 4th line. They have been strong on D, although they give up a lot of shots. I don't think that they will stay this hot, but they are definitely a top 5 team in the East.
I am surprised that the team is gelling so well so early in the season.

I'd vote for or what. How big of a hockey fan are you? Are you maybe a West Coast person instead? Most people expected the Flyers to improve this year, espically since last year was something of a fluke as well.

Take it from someone whose team played like gods the first 3/4 of the season then fizzled out just in time for the playoffs last year, you want to be careful with what you're saying right now. I love Marty Biron and I think your team got the better of the two goaltenders that used to be in Buffalo, but a loooot can happen over 82 games. Just sit back and enjoy the season with your revamped Flyers!

Pleasantly. And they take the edge off such a "stellar" Eagles season.
If someone said to me that the Flyers were going to be in 1st place with 2 shutouts to their credit, a 2-1 road trip through western Canada, I would have thought they were talking about the late regular season.
I thought that the first half of the season would be a period of trials and tribulations as they get to be familiar with each other, but to the credit of Holmgren, Stevens, Mullen, and the rest of the coaching staff, the players look like they've overcome that rather quickly.

if they go another 40 games and go 25-10-5, ill say they are amazing.....as for now its too early to say they are great.....too much can still happen.........ottawa 8-1......thats great but if they go 3-5 down the next 8........then it doesnt look so good...dont get so excited at the beginning of a year. You can enjoy the little victories they earn along the way though :-)

I say not really.
They got a scorer and goalie. And that makes the whole team better.
They were a bad team last year, but not Talentless. When you gotta keep your eyes on Briere that automatically increases the productivity of surrounding cast assuming they play the same.

They aren't amazing because they were the worst team in the NHL last season... last year was an embarrassment for them.
Its good to see them doing well again though...

They are a good team but have to learn disipline. look at the pre-season where Downie had that cheap shot on Dean Mcammond and two weeks later in the canucks game another dirty hit. discipline is very important for this flyers to in order to be successful
