Regardless of the truth, first impressions are the most significant influence on a persons opinion. So if the signals you are sending out by the way you dress or the attitude you display, do not reflect the real you, then the first impression they will have is incorrect. Is that what you want?
If so, then who cares what other people think.
If not, then perhaps your reasons for being a "rocker" are forcing you into a pigeon-hole that doesn't really suit the real you, and you are not being true to yourself.
The beauty is that if you just be yourself, then you don't have to "act" the part, and the truth will set you free from worrying about what others think of you.
