What makes you think you know more about what grade you deserve than this professor? He is the professor, you're not. Maybe you do "deserv" the low grade. Maybe he's trying to point out to you that you don't get it yet and need to put in some more work.

I did have a prof at OU (Go Sooners!) That gave me a improper
grade.
Your school has provisions that protect you AND them from
improper grades.
Go through your schools channels and your paper can be graded by other Profs for a final grade.
In my case, it worked well F to a B.
Now, My Prof was new and hated political views other than her own. She was green and not into listening to other opinions.
The system will work for you if you need it to.
Think of this now before you go further.

Go talk to the professor. Changing grade is not an uncommon practice. But you have to have a good reason for it. can't just ask to change the grade for no reason...

Talk to him/her about it. If you go into the meeting with this attitude, you can bet your butt he/she isn't going to change it. Be respectful. Ask what he/she is looking for in the assignment, or what you can do to get a better mark next time. Professors have to go through more schooling than you've had at this point. They know what you're going through. They're not out to fail you.

COMPLAIN! you have your score sheets every exams, and you know you are doing better, and yet gives you a low grade.. that's unfair...
