I am asking here before I go to dealership but i think I just need to get my brakes done and maybe get something else replaced. Okay recently I put 18" rims on my car, i think this also is an adding effect. 2 months after the rims my breaks began to squeal loudly when I hit breaks, I am guessing that I need to get some more break pads. but also I noticed a slight rotating sound when driving comming from my wheels. I cant tell exactly what it is but I know it cant be good lol. The break light in my Cadillac has also recently come on so I need to do something ASAP. any suggestions? I am going to dealership tomorrow to get something done but i know if I dont tell them to look at something, they woulnt.

I don't think that the 18" wheels have anything to do with it. You said it was fine, it was after two weeks that the noise started? if this is the case then you need new brake pads and linnings. The reason that the brake light is on is because as the pads and linnings wear, the calipers need more fluid to make up for the brake pad wear, with this said, once the linnings wear the fluid in the reservoir goes down and when it reaches a certain level will illuminate the brake light.

Go to a local shop ask them to check brakes. chances are you will need pads and rotors turned. They will be cheaper than dealer.

Regards!

Unless there is a specific reason to go to the dealer, take to any shop that is reputable and that you trust.

The 'squealing' sound are indicative of needing new pads, the 'rotating' sound may also be part of that problem, or it may be something different (i.e bearings).

The brake light is either due to the brake pads being worn excessively, or low brake fluid. The fluid you can check yourself, the pads needs to done by a pro.

I would first put the stock rims back on. All the 18" wheels do is put stress on everything out. You dont need to go to the dealer, find a reputable repair facility in your neighborhood that does free brake checks and go there to determine the source of the problem.

Brake pads are needed. Sounds like you are down to metal to metal. Not good for the rotor(costs more to fix). But car will not stop unless fixed.

Stay away from dealers. Go to a brake shop or a tire shop and let them look at it. Did you align the front end after putting on bigger tires ?? If not your front end has a problem.

Definitely sounds like brake pads!
But you might have damaged something with the new rims.
Get them to check for clearances.
