My solution is below, but I do have a question about your question: Is it 4(y-1)/5 or 4y(y-1)? You have it written different.

Multiply each side by 5
-3y * 5 = 4(y-1)
-15y = 4(y-1)

Distribute the 4:
-15y = 4y - 4

Subtract 4y:
-19y = -4

Divide by -19:
y = -4 / -19

You need to get the 'y' value on one side & everything else on the other side. You can do this by adding or subtracting the same thing from both sides or multiplying or dividing both sides by the same thing.

Here is how to do this:

-3y = 4(y-1)/5

Step 1 -- multiply both sides by 5

-15y = 4(y-1)

Step 2 -- get rid of the parenthesis -- by multiplying (y-1) by 4

-15y = 4y - 4

Step 3 -- subtract '4y' from both sides

-19y = -4

Step 4 -- divide both sides by (-19)

y = 4/19
