i do not believe that it will bring luck. i do not believe in talisments having powers. but, if you endow the rock with personal feelings, wether about you or your daughter or other things then when you hold, look at or think about the rock and why you have it, where it came from and what it symbolized to you then it will give you certain feelings. these feelings may put you in a frame of mind that can be attributed to good luck. the rock would be a mnemonic device, and you would be generating the feelings/luck yourself with the rock reminding you of them. i am sure that the rock is very beautiful. i have a few that have been given to me over the years, and are very meaningful to me.

At the age of 4 your child will be the most innocent human being in the world because for one...things like possession and materialistic values have not infiltrated its mind. I say it because you didn't specify gender. Take that rock and cherish it more than anything because you will always remember that they gave you that rock out of the sincerity and love and later down the road when they are giving you the speech about how they are an adult and blah blah blah you can always bring out that rock and say " i remember when you were 4 and gave me this rock for good luck" That will make any child with reason or not stop and think just how much they loved you and how much you love them because you kept such a thing that later on in life will probably be insignificant too them. My mom has things that Ive given too her that she'll bring out and say "Remember when you gave me this?" Things that Ive forgotten about but she hasn't. its a really special thing.

To her it was a pretty rock and thought is wonderful. She gave you something precious to her thought it was good luck. Who are we to argue with a 4 year old. She is probably right.
Cherish it forever. It was a beautiful gift from the one person on Earth that has unconditional love for you.

The rock will always make you feel great, because it was a gift from your four year old. The feelings that you get whenever you look at it will make you happy and will last you your life time. You should put the rock in a prominant place, where it is visible to you and your daughter. She will feel happy that you like her gift enough to give it the honor of being displayed.

Does it really matter if it does. Your child made a beautiful gesture. Anything giving by a child to there parent that way will bring good luck. If you don't believe it just look at your child. You're already lucky.

Children are special, untouched, umblemished, and without adult prejudice and preconceived notions about what is and what isn't. They have not lost their intuitive abilities at that age because they have not been corrupted by "adult" logic and/or reasoning. Hence they have in adult eyes, "imaginary playmates."
My nephew, at age 6, went to a fair. He proudly came home and said, "Here Aunt L..., I bought this for you. Do you like it?" Well, I loved it, and him even moreso, instantly. What was it? A piece of Lapis Lazuli, the astologer's stone; also used to open the third eye. I had it made into a necklace.
So what rock did she bring YOU?

It depends on how you look at it.Children have been known to be more perceptive than adults. They can feel more than we can and are not so ruled by what is acceptable and what is not. They have that ability to accept things without question. No social filters.Just heart.
So if you think ...religion is based on belief.People believe in various gods and they are real to these believers.Maybe you should just accept this rock as a gift from your child as it was meant to be and just thank her and be happy that she has decided to gift you with a pretty and lucky rock.

Couldn't hurt. Keep it for the rest of your life. If it doesn't bring you luck, it sure will be a gift that will always bring you a smile of her sweet and gentle side as she grows.

Regardless, she chose you to give it to. Display it and hope that it brings you good luck. You never know. It should be special just because she gave it to you, good luck or not.
