There are some people who do have their globes and maps with south on the top.

However, he notion that north should always be up and east at the right was established by the Egyptian astronomer Ptolemy (90-168 AD). "Perhaps this was because the better-known places in his world were in the northern hemisphere, and on a flat map these were most convenient for study if they were in the upper right-hand corner," historian Daniel Boorstin opines. Mapmakers haven't always followed Ptolemy; during the Middle Ages, Boorstin notes, maps often had east on top--whence the expression "to orient." But north prevailed over the long haul.

Well, firstly there is no such thing as upside down regarding space. We only see the world as we have been taught so how do humans actually know which way up the world really is? They don't because in space there's no such thing as upside down and is only related to gravity. Therefore if we enter space in a spaceship you would fly over the south pole but wouldn't look any different on the circumference only the fact that the land mass looks different. So to answer your question, no people don't walk upside down anywhere on the face of the planet but think just a moment about reality of the world being upside down because it never is. Think about it.

Just convention. You can look at a globe any way you want, as long as everything it right latitude and longitude wise.
