No, its not bad and it doesn't hurt the ac. It might affect your mpg by 1. Funny how many people are all concerned about how much they use their ac during the summer and such. They worry about using it because they don't want to waste gas. Do they worry about using the heater or defroster in the winter? Doubt they even know that the ac is running anytime the climate control is on in any form. Whenever your are running your heater your ac is on too. Unless your are driving an older classic or something but pretty much everything from the later 70's and up was equipped with this type of system. Some only run with the defroster and not the heater but almost all the newer stuff runs all the time. It is used to blend and dry the air in the cab. If there is no cold air mixed with the hot air it could tend to create a humid condition. Run it all you want windows up or down.

No its not bad for the a/c to run it and drive with the windows open but basically your wasting all the extra gas your using to run the air in the first place and then your letting all that cold air go right out of the windows. It doesn't hurt the A/C but it sure will hurt your wallet next time you go to fill up. Opposed to when you run the heater that's free. I keep hearing about people who have windows open when the air is on what is the point of even operating the air conditioning if your going to open the windows in 90 degree temperatures. Hell its people like you wasting gas doing that which causes the rest of us to pay more at the pump since were consuming more petroleum. Just so you know when we use oil they raise the price on a barrel of oil so then we have to pay prices of 3.00 plus a gallon.

No - you are simply wasting the gas needed to run the airconditioner plus wasting the gas by making your car less aerodynamic. You are not going to over work the AC.

No, actually in the summer I have to do both until the 140 degree air is out of my truck! I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference in mpg. Besides its your car be comfortable. Oh and while your windows are down crank up the tunes.

Your necessity is tobe warmand can enjoy coolness when all the windows are closed. If u keep them open heat comes in and you will be uncomfortable as well the AC operation will be failure and it becomes a heavy load. Please close all the windows. so that the coolness will be circulated lest the coolnes goes out .

Nope not at all I used to sell cars for Volvo we did it in the summer cause the heat was so bad and it feels even better cause get the blast from the car and the wind from the road its pretty nifty. You may loose a little gas vs. mpg, but comfort is comfort right?

Of course its bad, you're car will try to keep the temperature at a certain level and will never be able to reach it. This will just strain your AC

Well, it burns more gas because the open windows increase drag, and the AC burns fuel as well, so not a smart idea.
