It was actually their mother Debbie Rowe who made Michael promise to cover their faces to protect them, Michael also likes that since nobody knows what they look like that they can actually go out in public without him and not be bothered by the media and crazed fans!

People have already proven that they will lie in court to get money out of Michael. Could you imagine what some psycho kidnappers would do if they knew what Michael's kids looked like? Secondly, Michael grew up in the spot light since he was 5 years old, his childhood was ruined because of that, he doesn't want his children to have the same childhood. And when you are a mega superstar, there's not much you can do to prevent this, but atleast when his children go out with say the nanny or something, they can go out and be somewhat normal kids because no one knows they're michael's kids.
