I've been taking my pills non stop so i haven't been taking the sugar pill and so haven't been getting my period.

At the start the pill didn't agree with my body and I went through hell, but it came good after the first month.

Just recently I had the same feeling I did at the start...nausea, anger for no reason, tired etc. Except this time i have a weird pain/uncomfortable feeling in my lower belly mainly on the left side. My breasts are still sore and sensitive but only when touched.

What i'm asking is, is it common for the symptoms that were there at the start to come back another month in?? Or should I take a pregnancy test just to make sure?

All your answers will be greatly appreciated!! thank you

It is a common myth that menstruation is necessary to shed “toxins” from the body. In fact, the bleeding that women experience while on the pill isn’t really a true period, but rather what is called a “withdrawal bleed”. This is caused by the body’s withdrawal from the hormones in the active pills during the pill-free week or the week on placebo pills.

Originally, birth control pills were developed this way to reassure women that they were still having a normal cycle, and so that women would still be able to use her “period” as a sign that she is not pregnant. Now, continuous-use birth control pills are being developed for women who would choose not to have periods for a variety of medical or quality of life reasons.

As an interesting side note, women now have more periods throughout their lives than ever before. The reason is that these days women tend to have fewer children, and women who are pregnant or regularly breastfeeding typically do not have periods.

You're not pregnant, but you body is trying to tell you it's time to have your period. I did the same thing and still got my period. The idea, when I heard about it, was talked about in Cosmo as a great way to skip your periods although any reputable doctor would tell you that listening to such a superficial rag is stupid. (To this day, I cannot pick up that magazine without wanting to throw it across the room) Doctors and pharmacists will tell you not to do this for the reasons I mention:

The constant flow of hormones is confusing to your natural reproductive system. You'll notice the pills have different dosages. The change is so your body will adjust after taking the pill 21 days and know to shed the uterine lining. By constantly taking the pill, you are essentially confusing your body, hence the initial disagreement. Now, the human body does adapt quickly to stresses. (example - when we starve ourselves, it knows to start breaking down muscular tissue for subsidence.) I think your body tried to adjust and just can't do it. Take the sugar pills for the next couple of packages and decide if you want to put you body through this.

i am not on birth control and never have been because i'm not sexually active but all of my friends have been on birth control for a while now and i do not think that is normal... if you've been taking them you shouldn't be pregnant but at the same time you should not skip over the placebos and continue on with the real dosage pills! i have heard it is okay to do this every once in a while but certainly not with any regularily or each month or whatever... it is important to have your period because it cleanses your system and all that, maybe that could be why you are having these symptoms; in fact, my friend thought she may have been pregnant because she was having similar symptoms and that was because she too had skipped over the sugar pills for that month and carried on with the next month's real pills so it seems that this may be the cause. next time do the entire set before moving on to the next month's set.

Take a pregnancy test and if it's negative, call your doctor. I don't think after taking the pill for a long period of time that the symptoms come back like that. Also, did you consult your doctor about skipping the placebo/sugar pills? You may want to, b/c it could do more harm than not by skipping your period like that. Not enough studies have been conducted for skipping periods to know if it's okay or not.

Good luck!

Unless you skipped two pills in a row or used an antibiotic, the pill has completely protected you. No worry about pregnancy.

However, it sounds like your system doesn't get on well with this pill. I'd call the dr. and ask for a different prescription.
