i work at this place and there is another girl there with myname and they want to call me by a nick name so they wont get us confused right now i am stuck with mindy r cuz my last name starts with that

Actually, Mindy is a nickname, usually for Melinda. My sister is Melinda and goes by Mindy. But her friends call her The Mindinator (like the Terminator) and sometimes Mom calls her Min. If the full name is Melinda, Mel is another option

My name is Melinda, I go by Mindy but if you really feel the need to make a cutsie pet name (two syllables in Mindy makes it already as short as your gonna get unless you cal her M) I am also known to answer to Min-Min, Mindy mouse, or Minnie.

I think Mindy is a nn itself. Why not give her a nickname based on her personality - Sunny, Smiley, Sweetie, etc?

Mindy is also a nickname for Melanie. I love the name Mindy all by itself though. Minnie is cute. :o)

I wouldn't call my kid Mindy....where I come from the word Mindy is another word for a vagina.
