I would not be necessarily "proud" of any regret, but I would be quite relieved to resolve and overcome it to move one with my life.
The second question is a bit of an oxymoron. It would not truly be pride if there was any regret or modesty on the part of a vain person.

this question is a bit...off? isn't it?
i mean, i don't mean to ruin the whole philosophical insight here, but sorry if i can't have as much this time. I just fail to see how anyone can be proud of something you regret. To regret something, a person wants another chance to redo something because they don't like how things turned out. So if something is a regret, a person usually isn't proud of it. When people are proud with it, because they've gained personal growth, it's no longer a regret, but it's a mistake that you've accepted and leraned from
I rarely have pride. At one of my church retrreats, this pastor was saying how pride can be in many places. Usually people think pride is being proud of yourself, and boasting about it. However, he (the pastor) siad that even if you're putting yourself down, such as saying "I'm so horrible at this," that's still being prideful because you're still the center of attention. Sometimes I do regret that kind of "low pride," as the pastor put it, because it's lowered myself esteem, but otherwise I rarely am prideful.
Though my answer just conflicted with what I said, because I'm calling myself humble. It's hard to tell the difference when someone is telling a fact, or telling a prideful quality, when talking about themselves.

I am proud that I am capable of regret. I take pride that I can see where I am responsible for mistakes, mis-understandings and mis-constructions. In that way I am proud of my regret. Am I proud that I have regrets, not really no.
Do I regret my pride? Only when my pride has blinded me and led me down selfish, arrogant paths. I do not regret my pride as a whole for I am proud in myself. I look at what I have done and am happy.
I see the shades of grey.

I am proud of many of the things I have created over the years. I'm proud of some of my accomplishments along the way. I'm also proud that I have an intelligent, well-adjusted daughter.
I also have regrets.
Regrets and pride in the self are not necessarily related, even in a cute play on words pun question.

I think it's impossible to be proud of one's own regret...when you regret having done something, I think the feeling you get is guilt.
I don't regret my pride...I've been very proud of my daughter, [25 years old] who was brave enough to chase a small black bear on her property around her house...I am proud of her love and care of animals [she was breeding rabbits on her property as well]. I'm proud of her ability to socialize and walk in pitch darkness without any fear....I am also proud of her finally kicking out her husband [our bum-in-law -no longer son-in-law]. I've been also proud of our 2 sons [one who has since passed away] who could put together a computer from scratch, download programs, fix any computer problem, help me when my computer is not working and show me how to learn to do new things on my computer...and that they were both straight A students throughout their schooling.
And I have so much pride in myself that the list is endless.

Double regret. Regret pride and proud of regret. I feel that it is a double regret.

Am I proud of my regret? Do I show the scars on my heart proudly to the world? Do I carry my Grief around like a trophy? No way! I am not at all proud of my regrets. I am HUMBLED by them. They are the constant reminders of my follies. If only I could bury them, lay flowers on them, pray my little prayer for forgiveness and turn my back on them to move on in life! If only I could unshackle myself from their tight grip...
Pride is the one to watch out for. Not the self-esteem variety but the vain vanity. For, it is capable of bringing you a lot of regret...

Is the dog proud when she nurses motherless kittens? Does the hawk regret a supper of field mouse?
Is regret basically disapproval of one's actions or inactions, & can pride be a false estimate of one's virtues?
