add 9 to the other side (2)
then subtract 23 from the other side
you get your answer.
so,

23+h-9=2
23+h=11
h= - 12

so h is equal to negative 12

First do all the adding and subtraction with numbers that you can on the side with the variable. so 23-9=14 so now you have 14+h= 2 . then isolate the variable (h). to do this subtract 14 from 2 which = -12 so h= -12

because you want the h alone u have to get the 23 and the -9 on the other side of the equals sign.

23-9=14 so we can rewrite this as 14+h=2

2-14= -12 so h= -12

Get the h to be by itself.

Get all the other numbers on the right side of the equals sign.

How do you get the 23 over there?

How do you get the -9 over there?

Once you figure that out, you have the answer.

1) combine like terms

23 - 9 + h = 2
14 + h = 2

2) subtract 14 from both sides to make the h be by itself
14 + h - 14 = 2 - 14
h = 2 - 14 = -12

and there you have it.

Ok so you want h so to get it you subtract 23 and 9 to make the problem look similar which equals 14h = 2 Then 14 is being multipled so you want to divide 14 to get rid of it (remeber you always want to do it to both sides) which equals 0.142 so you end up with h = 0.142. Hope this helps and you undetstand how I did this.

Three questions you can always ask yourself to help you with an equation are
1. What do you want
2. Whats been done to it
3. How do you undo it.

ok so what your tryong to go is make it say h= whatever

so first add 9 to the 2
so you have 23+h=11
then subtract 23
so you get h=-12 because -23+11 is -12

i hope you understand baseclly just make it so the variable(the letter) equals a number
