I'm fourteen years old so I need a song appropriate for my age range. The musical is going to be 'Kiss Me Kate'. Auditions are in december, I need to start preparing now. The song needs to be at least 16 measures long, needs a dance with it, and needs to be memorized. I've auditioned for a few plays before, I've been in a school musical, and I'm in the school choir now, but I'm not sure how to dance. I don't now how I would prepare a dance to go with this song. Any ideas on which song and dance I could use to audition with? I don't know any songs from any plays....

It doesn't have to be a song from Kiss Me Kate, it can be any song but it has to be a "stage song"
(from a musical).

It would also be helpful if I could find a video of the dance on line like on youtube or somewhere else so I can see what I have to do and practice the dance.

Try the following:

There is a Sucker Born Ev'ry Minute - Barnum
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4-jsqZQ4OOY (just the song, no movement)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OyD5rncN1fM&mode=related&search= (About 4:20 into this clip is where the song starts)

You're The Top (A Duet, but you'd sing 16 bars of BIlly's part), Delovely, or Be Like The Bluebird - Anything Goes
http://youtube.com/watch?v=J6vxeROJS3s - You're the Top (You'd have to take the dance moves from the instrumental breaks and mix them with your vocal parts or just act the song)

Uptown Girl (or another song from the show) - Movin' Out http://youtube.com/watch?v=cZZDm_Rd6aQ
http://youtube.com/watch?v=wfICBlPEMnE&mode=related&search=Movin%27%20Out%20HHS%20SFS2%20Billy%20Joel

Good luck!

My maximum powerful suit - Aida a lot greater useful - Legally Blonde the Musical Roxie - Chicago good Morning Baltimore - Hairspray I won't Say i'm in Love - Disney's Hercules continually actual To you in My trend - Kiss me Kate For a 2nd - The Little Mermaid 2 Shy - as quickly as Upon a mattress luckily Ever After - as quickly as Upon a mattress or you're able to do exactly a music from intense college musical! those are basically some concepts...good success!

Do a song from High School Musical
the dances are on youtube and easy to memorize, and the songs are very catchy

i learned those songs quickly and recently performed in the play version of this movie

good luck

Ok, how about you do a song from "Oliver Twist"? That is like my fave musical and I'm sure you could find a dance to a song. I also agree on a High School Musical. How about "What Time is It?"

Do you have to a choose a song from Kiss Me Kate?

If so, "Too Darn Hot" is a jazzy number that will allow you to show off your voice as well as dance.

How about " Matchmaker Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the roof? It's a pretty song and a simple dance could be made up to go along with it. Good luck and break a leg.
