I have had it happen.
It is most annoying when it is in two different
Languages and you are translating (or trying to)
In the midst!!
ESPECIALLY when you are driving!!!
I totally feel ya.

Sometimes, as long as I try, I can pay attention to both, even if I am on the computer, but if I'm not trying to focus then I can't, lol. It's always best to just tell the person on the phone to hang on, or get them to tell you a story, so they won't think you are ignoring them while you listen to the other person talk, lol. Anways, it's something that if you make it a habit and practice it, you'll get really good at it. lol =]

I try! My younger grandkids are forever trying to get my attention when I'm on the phone. my daughters did it at that age, too. I think it's a phenomena of the preschool years! That's why I make all my important calls in the car on my way home from work- it's quiet!

Yeah, it comes from years and years of practice, for lack of a better word... I have 4 kiddos and it never fails, no one wants to talk to me until I'm on the phone and then EVERYONE wants to talk to me. I have found that it comes in handy though now that I'm a nurse b/c drs just love to do this to ya.

I can actually understand both, it's just that sometimes i get thing mixed up in between so like when i'm about to tell my friend that i wont say that(w/e she just told me to say), i say it to the person on the phone, instead. :|

it takes awhile to learn but some people, my self included, can hear differently out of each ear. try it, you may be able to hone in on that skill. it takes practice but once you master it, it sure comes in handy whenyou are in a crowded room pretending to listen to the person in front of you and actually also listening to some gossip behind you.

No, and this drives me crazy. My mom is the worst to try to talk when I get a phone call. Maybe I am getting paid back for doing it to her when I was little. lol

I agree 100%. My family does that to me all the time and I cannot stand it!! And they expect me to be able to do both things at once. Ugh

I think I could. I use to listen to transcription in one year and type it and listen to music in the other ear.

My freakin husband makes me do the phone call and then stands there dictating what to say. Hate when he does that crap.
