what would k be if 4x+ky = 8 is a line parallel to a line passing through points (6,-2) and (4,-1)?

I thought i should find the slope first so I got m= -0.5

then i put -0.5 equal to -4 over k (-4/k) because i figure y = (-4x+8)/k and then the slope would equal -4/k

but i can't get k alone to find out what it is. any ideas? thank you.

Suggest that you rewrite your equation as
y = (8/k) - (4/k) x , k is a CONSTANT. This is inthe form y= constant + slope * x
You are correct that the slope is -0.5
But (-4/k) = -0.5 , k=8.
