Personally I don't think that is possible. I've seen the specifications on the 2008 Honda Fit and Cruise Control is listed as a standard option for the manual transmission. Maybe is just a typo...

OK, but how does it really work? Say I'm in the fifth gear trying to climb a hill... what happens with the stick ... I'm confused. Can you set it to keep a certain speed or is just to help you when you are using the wrong gear ...

Let me put it this way: does cruise control work when you are in the fourth gear or you can just turn it on when you've reached the fifth gear and want to stay at that speed?

Yes, any standard trans can have cruise control. You may have to manually shift if you're climbing a steep hill, but otherwise they work just fine - even on 4 cylinder engines. It will simply try to maintain speed in the gear you have selected - when you push on the clutch pedal, the cruise disconnects, just like when you push on the brakes. So, if you're climbing a steep hill and the xcar can't maintainspeed in top gear, simply shift down a gear and put your foot on the gas. Now you can re-engage the cruise while in 3rd or 4th gear (it will still work), or wait until you can get back into 5th before re-engaging. The cruise system simply applies more gas if it detects the car slowing down. It doesn't do anything to the gearbox at all. (Just like with an auto. The cruise control doesn't shift then, either - the trans does that in response to what the throttle is doing. Cruise only affects the throttle opening.)
I've had it on a '93 Mitsu Eclipse 2.0 (non-turbo) and an '88 Ford Escort GT 1.9, and both did just fine despite being somewhat anemic in the power department.
Good luck!

Yes, some manual transmission vehicles do have cruise control. The system works on the same principles as the automatic version. Roadspeed and fuel consumption are calculated and sent as an electronic message to the fuel pump. Which in turn pumps enough fuel to maintain roadspeed. Naturally braking will cancel the cruise feature and revert to driver controlled. This is my best educated guess, hope it helps in addition to the to other answers.

I had cruise control in my '95 VW GTI.
It will hold speed in any gear, but as soon as you push the brake or the clutch it will turn off. If you are going up a hill in 5th it will just lug the engine. It doesn't shift for you so you have to pay attention.

I've owned two that had it.
A 1999 Chevy Silverado and
A 2005 Saturn Ion.
Yeah, it can't shift for you and if you are really lugging it because for example you're going up a mountain if fifth gear and your speed drops, the cruise just kicks off. But it works well 99% of the time.

My Subaru is has both a manual transmission and cruise control. BTW - if you are considering a fit, you may want to look at the Toyota Yaris as well. It is a similar car for a lot less $.
