usually with in a week. But even the depo is not 100% safe. I was on it for about 18 months, didn't have a period the entire time and got pregnant. I had my last shot in July and found out in August that I was pregnant. I had no symptoms of being pregnant either, except that I would be sick everytime that I brushed my teeth. I was 14 weeks when I found out that I was pregnant.

Do not take Depo...it is not effective enough in preventing pregnancy. I became pregnant while on it, and I know a lot of people who did too. Not to mention the side effects are real. Excessive bleeding, hair loss...I've experienced it all.

Just say no to Depo....

The is no 100% guarantee that it will prevent pregnancy. You need to use protection for at least the first three months to make sure it is working. But I would also call the doctor who gave you the shot and ask the exact time frame of effectiveness.
