I mean simple things like, you look like you've lost some weight or you look like you've put on a few pounds.... or your looking much healthier... etc.

Does the person's size make a difference on when its ok to comment? Like its ok if they are really skinny?

The ONLY time I'll comment is when I know that a given person is ACTIVELY trying to lose weight. Then, when I honestly notice a difference, to give them encouragement and additional motivation I'll tell them that they look like they've lost weight.

Otherwise, regardless of size, it's best not to say anything.

Society tends to value thinness. Usually it is considered rude to comment on their weight if they are gaining. Usually it is flattering if they are losing weight. But why bring up weight at all? "You look great" will suffice, and it doesn't have to worry about these issues.

so long as it will be said out of genuine concern or praise it will be well appreciated.
sometimes people tend to comment on other's weight just to make fun of them & that surely hurts.
