I asked a question a few mins ago about the backup lights not working. And got 2 answers the same about the swich being bad or just gunked up. Where is this switch located on the tranny so I can yank it out and try to see what the deal is. My husband just doesn't want to start pulling wires of by the tranny and risk it not working being they are touchy as it is

the switch is screwed in the front of tranny radiator side depending on trans. it could have 1 or 3 switches it will be the one closest to the pan. i hope this helps good luck.

Backup light switches can be in a variety of locations, not necessarily on the transmission itself. Some vehicles have them closer to the actual transmission shift lever. Frankly, they can be anywhere on the linkage which changes the transmission gear.

fallow the shift cabble to the trans, now whare the cabble is attached there should be a black box with a few wires conected to it on the trans whare the shift link is conected that should be it, also called the nuetral safety switch. the contact are made of fine copper that whare down after a while

Is it possible that the light bulbs aren't just burned out? Check em and make sure you didn't go over a big bump and knock em or something, though very unlikely. Also, check out the fuse box.
