because apples don't just come in the color red and orange is one of the only fruits that is full orange and not any other color

Because all varieties of oranges are orange....but apples come in red, yellow, and green.

because the person who names the apple was creative and said bravely "i name this red peice of fruit, and apple" where as the person who named the orange was afraid so they named it something no one could hate, saying timidly, "umm, i think that, well, you know, maybe, i don't know, this fruit could like, maybe, be called an orange, maybe???
