The only one that I could possibly say that I hate is my ex-husband. We have two great kids together, he lives 3 mins from our house, and he still has a hard time seeing them for 24 - 36 hours every other week. He's always got an excuse why he can't spend time with them. He puts no effort at all into their upbringing, which, could be a good thing, but as a dad, he totally sucks. He is busy taking care of our (dead) best friend's wife and family. He "pays me to babysit" our kids, which apparently is supposed to be enough.

At least if he did die, but I don't wish this, we'd actually be able to live off the social security, instead of the little bit I get each week when he does decide to work!

Hate is a strong word in terms of things that a person doesn't like. Since the person doesn't like those things, it's perceived to be negative. Love, on the other hand, is perceived to be positive, because like you said, it's the opposite of hate. Since it's seen as being more positive, that's probably why it's used more often.

When we were growing up we were not allowed to say we hated anyone. If I were to say I hated my sister, I'd be in big trouble. So hating someone is really serious to me.

I hate my daughters dad. He did her so wrong and I've always felt bad about it. He is the only person on earth I hate.

good question, and ive asked myself that more than once. i know people that i strongly dislike, but i dont know if the feelings would change if we had a verbal confrontation with no anger. i wonder about the connection between hate, fear, and the unknown. everyone has their story, if we dont know that, how can we really hate? its all superficial.

Well there's been a fair share of people I've disliked and still dislike to this day, yet I don't hate them, I pity them.

yes, but only a select few in my family sadly enough. I am an accident victim with brain damage and several members of my family let me live without medical care or transportation while they stoleme blind. If I had the means, these people would cease to worry me any more, if you know what I mean.
