Both fall in the category of fireworks. While sparklers throw out small sparks of one color or more, they don't make any loud noise. On the other hand, firecrackers have a bit if explosive material in them which causes them to burst out with a sound whose intensity varies with the strength of the explosive charge in them.
Firecrackers may or may not go up high in the air. Some firecrackers also have a built in sparkler in them which makes them throw out a shower of sparks when in the air.

One makes a loud popping sound (firecracker) and the other appear to shoot little fiery sparks, sometimes in multiple colors (sparkler).
