This traitorous cycle fills their pockets and their buddies' pockets.

With the Cold War over, there is no need for the huge military budget or to pay out huge sums to their cronies. Reagan, Bush I and Bush II have all fleeced the nation's budget, destroyed our future, and set up future generations for more of the same--on purpose.

Don't forget that it was Jimmy Carter(Dem) that was the first one to support the Afgan rebels against the invasion by soviet forces. This was a different time with different priorities in which the US was concerned with the policy of containment. The US was worried that the Soviets were using Afghanistan as a launching point for control of the middle east. The last thing we wanted was soviet control of the oil rich middle east.

Though I don't condone any of the current administrations policies, I feel it is unfair to call republicans traitors based on your argument. Would you have called Ronald Reagan a traitor during that time if he let the Soviets control Afghanistan?

There are many such foreign policy decisions , military assistance prograns and related policies and programs which were unwise at the time, have now come back to haunt us and are swept under the carpet in the hope they won't taint the politicians and parties involved. Unfortunately similar awful decisions are still being made by the Administration. They have forgotten nothing and they have learned nothing.

Well, Frank...It would be nice if every U.S. President could have a crystal ball handy to predict if the decisions they made DECADES ago would come back to haunt us in the future. The time when those decisions were made were difficult, Cold War, Iran hostage Crisis, Cuba Missile crisis, etc. Difficult times call for difficult choices. If you think you can do a better job handling world conflicts, then run for president and show how it's done instead of critisizing from your computer desk.
