This girl wants me to play the piano while she sings in our middle school talent show. She didn't even ask me! She asked her MOM! I went to her house to practice, and she is NO Kelly Clarkson!(I was playing Breakaway) How do I tell her she sucks without hurting her feelings? She's trying to schedule another practice.

Maybe you could try to get her to perform a talent that she is actually good at. Can she dance, model, or play an instrument? You will have to tell her that she can't sing. The best bet would be to either record her and play it back, or invite a couple of your friends over to listen to her practice and have them honestly critique her. If she hears it from more than one person, she will probably believe it. Then you guys could brain storm on other ideas for the show.

Hi, Mickey. Try to record her voice and play it back so that she can hear herself sing. Then give her an analysis of her
vocal performance..letting her know that she's not a natural but with a voice coach and the proper amount of lessons and exercises; both for her breathing and vocal trainings , she has
great potentials. No offense intended, but as of now, she's simply not quite ready to perform a solo without having had adequate time to prepare for such an already stressful event.
Hopefully..she'll hear her on voice and you won't even have to say a word. Good luck and all. Peace.

If she's really that bad she will get burned at the talent show ... don't tell her, it sounds like it would be pretty funny. Give the audience little looks of sympathy during her performance, that always goes down well.

There's no real other way, yet... Perhaps you can have a few people listen to her singing ability (you know invite a few people over to give them a taste of whats to come) and hopefully someone will tell her the real truth...

Let the truth be heard... it's not a crime to tell the truth it's the right thing to do... Do it.

Ask her who sings that song and when she says Kelly Clarkson, say "yea, let her sing it, LOL"

Just kiddin, tell her she doesn't have the best voice.

I don't see any easy way out of this one. Either refuse to play for her or be blunt. If you are blunt she will probably appreciate it more sometime in the future. If you refuse to play she might not get the message.

When I would start howling at the moon my Mom used to tell me, "Don't Quit Your day job".

Since you would rather it be you, then have the whole school laugh at her would just tell her. Maybe tell your mom first, so she can tell your friends mom, just so her mom is prepared.
