Your tree appears to be a white alder. http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fei%3DUTF-8%26p%3Dwhite%2520alder%2520tree%26rs%3D1%26fr2%3Dtab-web%26fr%3Dslv8-&w=320&h=240&imgurl=www.laspilitas.com%2Fplants%2Fpictures%2Fa26.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.laspilitas.com%2Fplants%2F26.htm&size=18.3kB&name=a26.jpg&p=white+alder+tree&type=jpeg&no=18&tt=80&oid=d83fe23031776bf0&ei=UTF-8. If it is this tree, it is a well-known allergen.

I'm sorry that I cannot help you on what kind of tree this is, but you seem to be allergic to it. If you must walk past it each day, try to not breathe until you are well past the tree. Hold something over your nose and mouth as you pass it.

We have lots of trees in our area that cause people to have runny noses just by sticking their heads out the door to check on the weather, or go out for the newspaper.

All of this will pass as soon as the weather gets cold.

It's Cottonwood. It's bad in the spring when it looks like it's Snowing this stuff near the river. Crazy when you breath it in.
