Purling is basically putting the yarn to the front of the work, insert your needle in the front of the stitch on the left hand needle, The right needle should be in front of the left needle, with the yarn held to the front of your work, wrap the yarn around the needle, bring the needle to catch the yarn, and then lift the stitch off .

The easiest way to learn, in my opinion, is to ask your grandma or someone else's! If there's an old lady in your street, ask her if she'll teach you. Old ladies like few things more than teaching their craft to nice young girls. "Young" can mean anyone under 50 :)
