I realize that a double A has 1.5 Volts, but taking everything (including mAH of each) into consideration, I would like to know which would shine brightest and which would last longest.

since a flash lite bulb takes very little power which
both battery types can supply then the brightness depends on the amount of voltage not the current.

the light if rated 3 volts will be brighter at 4 volts and will increase in brightness as the voltage increases.

the life will depend on the voltage as more voltage will reduce the life in proportion.

9 volt will burn a 3 volt bulb instantly like a flash bulb going on.

Initially the 9v battery will produce more light, but the 2 AA batteries will last longer.
