run through everyone's answers and give thumbs down just for the heck of it? What could they possibly get out of doing that? I've noticed it alot in many of the other sections, not so much here. Seems strange to me. I know it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious what kind of person does this?

People who burnt their dinner, people who don't like other people, people who don't watch TV or read books, people who are very strange and need lots of help. People who need their computers stolen or burnt. Watch for the big V. People who can't understand questions, and can't answer them. but at least feel they are participating, poor things. People who dinged their car, and have to take it out on someone. People who are STRANGE. Most of the time, they have no idea why they are doing it! Help needed.

You have asked a very pertinent question. It must have suggested itself toothers but had to wait for someone like you to paraphrase it.

I do not know whether you have marked the growing lack of communication between people--even next table colleague, next door neighbour or next sitting person to you. Everybody is or is pretending tobe busy with doing something or the other mostly nothing . Even at the dinner the persons sitting round the table--the family members-are either busy listening to rock music or watching the idiot box. Not that they do not want to communicate but, so to say, they are almost afraid of doing it.You hesitate to pass on even a possing remark about the weather to person sitting next to you which does not by an y imagination seek agreement since experience of weather can differ from person to person.

This is where YQA(and similar others) come in. They provide a venue for persons to communicate albeint under a garb. Even if you ask the silliest of questions(which some are) youare secure in the knowledge that your avtar has sufficiently camouglaged you.The silliness of the question is not necessarily hidden even from the asker but it is the impatince to avail of opening a conversation that goads him to do it.The responder to the questions are no better. They are thankful that somebody has talked to them not directly but at least by impliction and that he asker would read their answer. He may approve of it or not That is not the question. Nobody is approaching god's messenger for adivice of saving his'her soul.YQA has wisely cautioned that the answers need not necesarily be correct. It is the response that matters.

The above, I hope, is adequate for you to outline the face of the asker and the answerer.

OH! I KNOW! The DOG section is really bad and many have formed a clique. Thats why I go to different sections.

ADD:
I rarely give anyone a thumbs down unless it's a dangerous answer or really, really dumb.

Darn, the questions are starting to make sense, so guess I have to pull out my brain again. I love your avatar as I used to have a little doggie just like that.
The answer to your question is YES.
I've spent a lot of today in other categories just to check that out plus
do some answering, and yes, I see that
they get more thumbs down than
we do. So I think its just some kids
being cute. they don't have any control of anything else, so they are exerting
their power here.

Yes, it is strange. I've noticed it this last week on some very harmless, honest questions and even more harmless and informative answers. [like 'what did you eat... ' like the above answerer said.] I have to go WHAA???
It doesn't make sense, but some people just want to have their egos built up for some fiendish little reason. There must be quite a few of them doing this.

Yes. I've seen questions that ask your opinion on something & a bunch of them will have a thumbs down. They're people who just get a kick out of thinking they can upset others. I don't give thumbs down and I wish they'd do away with them.

I don't know why someone would do that. I seldom give a thumbs down, and I certainly don't go through all the other questions and do that. I'm a person.
