LSU and Florida would kill them.

i just dont think there is a clearcut answer on this. I mean everyone says oh they have an easy schedule but geesh at least the buckeyes are beating the teams they should. All these top ranked teams were beat mostly by unranked teams so i just think its a crapshoot deciding who is number 1....all the more reason we need playoffs...but you could still have same issues...best team has a bad day you know? That being said...i truly believe LSU is number 1...they have played toughest teams...but OSU is definately #2...at least for this week! :-) Now being the buckeye that i am....i am pumped they stand a chance of playing in championship game again! Hopefully it turns out differently this eyar...but we have some big games ahead of us! GO BUCKEYES!

Yeah. They are undefeated, and the Buckeye D is incredible. True, they haven't hit the hard part of the schedule yet, but they beat the teams they are supposed to beat and beat them soundly. I think the Big Ten is getting a bad rap. The Pac Ten is still the weak sister. USC and Berkely? LOL. The SEC just take turns beating each other. The Buckeyes should be #1 unless and until they get beaten.

Look, I got nothing against the buckeyes (its Michigan that I think gets so much bias) but if you put Ohio State on the field with Oregon, or LSU, Bama, or Arizona state.....your gonna see a massacre. The fact is the Big 10 is very weak this year, and out of conference games have been very weak not to mention the state of decay for Notre Dame. Its not the buckeyes fault, but I don't think they are going to really see a quality opponent until they get to the bowl game.then you are going to see another blowout like you did last year with Florida.
Good luck this season

Of course they are (until they lose). Stellar defense wins championships. They are playing great and if they keep their heads focused on each game, they should win out and win the title.Their offense is above average and the idiots who think that Big Ten football is weak are the same fools who cry each year.
For the idiots who think that only their conference or team has a tough schedule. Bullshit ! No one knows how other NCAA teams will play that year and if their teams schedule was that way, they would be saying the opposite. Sour grapes to them.
As for the next idiot who brings up the BCS championship from last year...all I can say is all teams can lose and were due for a loss and the best team did lose after waiting around for 8 weeks with no competition to keep them up to speed. And for the last idiot to comment, the Florida defense was not that good. When a team comes out and plays lethargic, sometimes they just lose.

Nobody is a true #1 this year. With all the upsets goin' around like a tornado in a trailer park this year, the only true #1 team will be whoever can stay under the radar and be #1 right in the last week of the season.
It's hard to say if anybody, that Ohio State can do it.

Until they lose a game, they deserve that top ranking. I know that the Big 10 isn't exactly a powerhouse conference, but that's not the fault of the Buckeyes. They've been crushing teams all season, and their last game was close only because of offensive mistakes.
Do I think they could run the table in the SEC? It's highly doubtful, but it's not something they have to do. They've yet to lose, they've looked good, and they currently deserve that top spot.

if they aren't number 1, who is?
I don't think they could beat many SEC teams but given the way things worked out, they should be number 1.
Its not their fault USC blew a game to stanford or that LSU didn't beat kentucky, or that oklahoma got upset, or that south florida lost to rutgers.
Not every loss comes from a marquee matchup. Also OSU played Texas when vince young was there. This was a rebuilding year for them so it makes sense they chose a weaker schedule - im sure they didn't expect all these national upsets or that the big-ten would be a bust (wisconsin, penn state, michigan).

not looking forward to Ohio St vs. BC in the National Championship game?
The big ten +1 is AWEFUL! and Ohio St. is by far the best team in the league. Hopefully Michigan or Penn St. can shock the Buckeyes and prevent a terribly uninteresting Nat Champ. game!
At least it isn't USF vs. BC!

According to some peoples reasoning that they haven't lost a game they should be number one. If that's the case it should be a 5 way tie for number 1. Ohio State, Boston College, Kansas, Hawaii , and Arizona State are all equals. Give me a break. Not enough consideration on strength of schedule.

OSU hasn't lost a regular season game since midway through 2005, and they have the best defense in the country, playing patsies or not. They are as true a number one as you can have in week 8.
As for the NFL guy above me, year in and year out, OSU schedules one big nonconference game. Last two years it was texas, you know, the team that won the NC in 2005. Next two they play USC, you know the team with the best run the last 5 years, and after that they play Miami(NC the year the game was scheduled) and Oklahoma. These schedules are made up to ten years prior, and the washington game was scheduled the year Washington won the pac ten.
