I think I fractured/broke my thumb...?

Question

I was hammering in some nails today, when I missed, and hit my thumb. I was way off, and hit the bone that connects my thumb to my hand.

It is swelling, and hurts when I move it. Do you think I broke/fractured it? If it isn't a break or fracture, what else could it be?

It sure sounds like a break to me. Better get it X-Rayed.
