Not sure it was a scam. In second grade, I went in for flute lessons on Saturdays. There was a man who offered them at our private school, and about a hundred of us bought into it. We got these plastic flutes, covered in faux leather (to look nice), which were actually out of tune, and the man who would teach us hardly ever turned up for the classes.
