Economics is currently a very hot career in the banking and investment fields. When I graduated with my degree about 15 years ago it wasn't appreciated like it is today. Economics gives you the best overall picture of how business works both from an individual business view as well as a world market perspective. You will do well with this degree.

Yes, but it will be the same job you can get with a degree in English. If you really want your Economics degree to matter, it has to be a PhD.
