I don't think the laws are the same for each country, and also that the laws are not as well developed as they should be in most places...

Wouldn't it be cool if it wasn't just to the centre of the earth but all the way up the other side as well...

Here in Ohio, mining companies can excavate under your land. You have no claim to that "land" unless you own the mine.
