That the relatives, friends, and others think that just because you are working and residing the the U.S.A., that you are rich with plenty of money? Don't they realize even if you are making more money in the U.S.A., your are also living in the U.S.A. economy including paying taxes, etc.?

Does it surprises anyone here that those in the Philippines, relatives, friends, and others do not believe it when you tell them the facts of having to stressfully cope with the stateside economy?

Yes, they believe that we are all rich here and they're not gonna believe you if you tell them what we are doing here. In my case my sister in the Philippines is luckier than me because even though she has 3 kids when she comes home from work , everything is ready and even dinner , kids were clean. Compared to me here in the US, when I come home, I have to figure out what will I cook because I have 2 kids to feed. I am doing my laundry in the weekends aside from doing the groceries and paying my bills. They don't know that we're earning dollars here but we are spending in dollars too. You can only enjoy spending your money there bec $1 is equivalent to 45 Phil pesos. But I think they will believe my story if they would be here and see what my life look like.

This is probably a "common belief" only among those in the lower class.

Those in the higher class of society are fully aware that life is not a bed of roses in the USA. In fact, couples work so that the family will have at least 2 income earners.

And a lot of Filipinos are aware that some don't even do well to the point that they want to return.

Some Pinoys have that kind of thought. It is for their relative working in the States to make them understand that life in the US of A is much more difficult than the life in the Philippines. Educated Pinoys know that although their friend or relative earns more (in terms of dollars), they are also spending in dollars, not pesos. Also, we are better off here because we can hire someone to do our chores and pay them monthly unlike in the States where house help are paid by the hour.

yes, most of the Filipinos think that if somebody came from the US, he/ she should be rich. Because even if they are living there, the fact that they are earning US Dollars means lots of money to them since exchange rate is higher compared to the Philippine money

used to be!

and still some of them think it like this way.
and some of people in the USA, thinks they are rich especially if they haven't been back in the Philippines for a while!

but for those who believes in the hardworking people is rich when they go abroad, that's a positive thinking.
there was a program, showed international, Filipino in USA, crying, asking for help on public television? what's up with that? what will Filipinos back home feel, and think? that it is better to go to middle east? no offense. :( I am just saying, let's give positive impressions on what we are in foreign land, also what we are back home. maybe we can move forward. less drama.

i guess you cant blame them ...because those who worked abroad give them signals that they have lots of money.they spent more, expensive private schools, they eat out more, celebrate more festive than before, wear expensive watches, flashing new gadgets...usually those who are never been out of the country and never experience how hard we earned those money see us in that prospective.and as ive said we cant blame them...
