The grocery store chain (said identically) immediately comes to mind. They might not have been around when your friend's sister was named, however. ;)

Think about the child's future. Wouldn't you rather give your child a more traditional and easier to pronounce name?

Maybe it's just me, because I believe in being sensible. Wonderful though, for a middle name!

Just the fact that you had to explain the pronunciation should tell you something. Unique names are great, but not names that question gender, or are tough to pronounce or spell. Sorry, I don't like it.

It sounds too much like a brand name, and there will undoubtedly be some kids calling him, "Retardi", or "Boy-Ar-Dee". That's kids, and you always have to bear that in mind when choosing names.

I think a lot of what makes a name interesting is in what it means. I think it sounds fine.

Well surprise! it's Indonesian and it's a boys name.
