I have three computers and want to set up a password for my kid's comuter BEFORE they can enter anything. Can I do this? How do I set up a password once windows begins and before they get into their own accounts? Is this possible? Let me know.

Windows XP

*Start -> Control Panel
*User Accounts
*Change an Account (for existing User) or Create a New Account (obviously for a new user)
- Since this is for your kids, I'd use a "limited" account so they can't mess it up too much.
*If creating a new user, go through the little wizard, then click on the new user in the list
*Click on "Create a password"
* Enter the desired password (twice to make sure you typed it correctly)

Then when the computer logs on they'll have to choose their user name and enter the password before they can do anything.

You would log in as an administrator, create a new user profile (either an admin acct or limited acct, up to you), and add a password, and under 'Change how users log on and off' option in User Accounts in the Control Panel, check the box that says 'Use the welcome screen' so that the password must be entered each time.
