For the same reason the Bible was

The fact is that they were religios stories. Some call it myth, other call it fact. Just like the Bible. What makes the Bible true and the Greeks untrue? As a Christian you might say "Because the Bible is true". Say who? God? Well, if one doesn't believe in that god, then all authority is lost.
The Bible is full of stories to explain the unexplainable as well. How we got here, why we do the things we do, why the world is where it is.....ALL myths are religious stories. Just depends on your religion.

They were written to entertain ,explain and educate.
When they were written most were not considered myths and some would have been thought of as history and fact. The stories would give explanation for things the Greeks couldn't understand, teach them of their ancestors and their religion and give them something exciting to listen to and think about.

The Greeks wrote those myths in the 1st place to explain super natural or things they couldn't explain, like why the sun sets and rises the way it does, or why is the sky blue and why are there 4 seasons, or things like that =)

Well, I suppose like any other myth, to explain or understand one's existence. Remember, the definition of "myth" does not necessarily mean "falsehood." Myths are normal developments in societies and culture throughout the millinia. Many Greek myths were simply syncranized from surrounding belief systems, therefore, not original, in and of itself.

At the time the Greeks/Romans believed what they wrote. They believed in Zeus and all the powers. Mythology came
way before the bible. It is the same reason that we believe in the bible today. Fear! Mythology had Gods for everything and punishment too! Same as God and the 10 commandments!
