I make an awesome 2-layer chocolate cake. After I put chocolate frosting on the first layer, I spread some raspberry jam on it, then put on the second layer. Then I frost the rest of the cake, finishing it up with a thin layer of jam over the entire cake. It gets rave reviews every time I make it. A deli near where I used to work made something similar, and I "borrowed" the idea from them.
